We have an avid Janeite friend and have been unsuccessfully chasing around the Net for several years now in pursuit of a bobble head for her. I checked the Melboune Univ. bookshop site and didn't have any luck under "gifts" or "contact us". Does anyone know of a contact person there that I can email to purchase a nodding Jane?

This frustrating endeavor reminds me of Mark Twain's remark about the weather: "Everybody talks about it but nobody does anything about it!" What would be the chances of persuading JASNA and the other affiliates to obtain permission from Greenwood for a reissue or, failing that, permission to order a second "edition" of the bobble from the original manufacturer? There are companies with websites on Google who produce special orders in lots of 250 and 250 copies of this lady would sell out fast.

wow! I have that finger puppet (it was a gift). I also have a Jane Austen action figure, which I love.

I think the lightswitch is a bit much though. And the thong, well, let's just say "the mind reels!"

What fun! I'm glad I found your blog.

That's great Mags. That really shows something important about why (some?) Janeites collect merchandise and accessories. It's not about being a sheep and passively consuming products - the things are put to people's own creative uses.

I'm seeing some good possibilities for The Shining / Pride and Prejudice crossover fanfic, though - they both revolve around Big Houses for a start.....

I have the finger puppet. I frighten my co-workers with it occasionally. "JANE SAYS REDRUM!" (The first time I did that to my boss he nearly fell out of his chair laughing.)
