Thank you for taking the time to look at this page. The guidelines explained here are designed to maintain a welcoming, friendly, informal atmosphere for all the readers and writers of this blog, and to encourage civil and responsible discussion and debate.
By submitting your writing to the blog you agree to abide by these guidelines. The blog administrator will delete any writing deemed to violate them. Repeat offenders may be blocked.
Comment guidelines
- * Supply a valid email address. It will never be shared or published.
* You can use a pseudonym if you like.
* Be reasonably brief. If you have a lot to say, you could write it on your own blog and post a link here. Or start your own blog if you don’t have one.
* Try your best to stay on topic.
* Don’t submit writing that is a personal attack, defamatory, libellous or constitutes hate speech. If you do not know what this means, don’t post.
Occasionally the automated spam filter will catch and withhold a perfectly reasonable comment – especially if it contains two or more hyperlinks. If a comment of yours doesn’t appear immediately this glitch is more than likely the cause. Email the blog administrator for help if necessary.
Further guidelines for post authors (RJA students)
In addition to the above:
- * When writing here about a website, video, blog or community elsewhere, try to notify that site about your post so the site owners can read what you’ve written about their work.
* If you quote extensively from someone else’s work, satisfy yourself that you are abiding by Fair Dealing principles. The simplest way to do this is to make a substantive comment about the quoted material.
* If you put an image or embed a video in your post, ideally, use material that is in the public domain or has a Creative Commons licence attached. Do not ‘hotlink’ images from other websites. If you want to use a commercial image (from a news site, for instance) you may, but in the event that the rights holder objects, the blog administrator will take the image down.
